Connect Linear
Connect Linear to a project so a theme can be pushed into your backlog as an issue, carrying its verdict, its numbers and its quotes.
Connect Linear and every theme gets a Create Linear issue button that puts the case into your backlog in one click.
Before you begin
- Role: project Editor or Lead. A workspace Admin is a lead on every project.
- In Linear: a workspace where you can create a personal API key.
- To hand: that key.
- Time: two minutes.
What Adduce sends
One issue per theme, on your click, and nothing else. The issue carries:

Long bodies are trimmed: a quote is cut at 280 characters and the whole issue at 10,000.
Permissions the key needs
A Linear personal API key acts as the person who created it, so it can reach whatever that person can. Adduce uses it for three things:

Nothing is read from Linear into the project. Adduce never reads your issues, comments or projects.
Steps
In Linear, open Settings → Security & access → Personal API keys and create a key that can create issues. Copy it; Linear will not show it again.
In Adduce, open the project, choose Sources, and scroll past the sources list to Issue trackers.
On the Linear card, paste the key into Personal API key and choose Connect Linear. Adduce calls Linear with the key before it stores anything; a key Linear refuses is reported under the field and nothing is saved.
Open a theme and choose Create Linear issue.
Pick the Team the issue should land in and choose Create issue. The team you chose is remembered in this browser, so the next theme opens on it.
The button becomes the issue's identifier and opens it in Linear. If the issue could not be created, the button reads Retry Linear issue instead.
When Adduce sends
Only when you click. There is no schedule, no backfill and no automatic push. A theme that changes after its issue was created does not update the issue, and closing the issue in Linear does not change the theme.
Disconnect or replace credentials
On the Linear card choose Disconnect. The stored key is deleted and the create-issue button disappears from every theme in the project; issues already in Linear are untouched. To rotate a key, disconnect and connect again with the new one.
If it did not work
Why was the key refused when I chose Connect Linear?
Linear rejected it. The likeliest causes are a key that has been revoked, a key copied with a stray space, and a key from a workspace you have since left. Create a fresh one and paste it again — nothing was stored, so there is nothing to clean up first.
Why does the team list say it could not load?
The key still exists but Linear would not answer. Wait a moment and reopen the dialog; if it keeps failing, the key has probably been revoked since it was connected, and the Linear card will be showing a reconnect form.
Why is there no Create Linear issue button on my theme?
Either no tracker is connected to this project, or your project role cannot edit content. Connecting is done on Sources, and it needs the Editor or Lead role.
