Track spend and cap tokens

Read where the workspace's Adduce tokens went on the Spend page, set the default monthly cap every member gets, and give one person their own cap.

Chat spends Adduce tokens from the plan's monthly allowance. Spend shows where they went, and two caps keep any one person from using the whole allowance.

Before you begin

  • Role: Admin to see the whole workspace and to set caps. A Member can open Spend and sees their own tokens only.
  • A plan already started, so there is an allowance to spend from.

Steps

Choose Spend under Dashboards in the workspace sidebar. The Range control switches between This period, 30 days and 90 days. For an Admin the strip across the top reads the tokens spent, the Balance, Monthly left and any Top-up reserve.

Spend, as an Admin sees it. The demo workspace has spent nothing yet, so the chart and table are empty.

Read Daily spend, tokens per day stacked by member, and Where it went, which splits the range By member or By project. For This period the table also shows each member's Limit, with Near limit and At limit badges. Choose a member to open Member spend, split By project or By chat.

Read the Allowance rail: the Plan allowance, how much of it is used This period, when it Resets, the Default member cap, and what the workspace is On pace for by the end of the period. Manage billing opens Workspace settings → Billing.

To set the cap every member gets, open Workspace settings → Billing, find Usage this period, and choose Edit beside Default member cap. Enter the Default cap for uncapped members as tokens per month and choose Save default; Clear default removes it. A member with no cap of their own stops at this figure.

The Default member cap dialog.

To give one person their own limit, open Workspace settings → Members and select their name. Under Token cap, enter a Monthly cap and choose Save. Use default puts them back on the workspace default; Block stops them spending tokens at all, and Unblock reverses it.

Why

A cap stops a request rather than letting it overrun: the composer's meter reads Out of adduce tokens and the message does not send. That is kinder than a surprise on the invoice, and it is why the default applies to everyone unless you choose otherwise.

If it did not work

Why can I not see other members on Spend?

You hold Member at workspace level. Spend shows you your own tokens; the workspace view is for Admins.

Why is the Edit button beside the default cap disabled?

Only a workspace Admin can change billing settings, and the default cap is one of them.

Why is the Limit column empty?

Limits and pace are shown only for This period; the 30- and 90-day ranges cross a reset, so a single limit would not apply.
